With the possibility of measuring at a high temporal resolution and over long time periods environmental parameters (like dissolved oxygen, water temperature and salinity) during trials in mesocosms and on-field activities, the "Life In Context" facility is contributing to a better understanding of the ecological niche of the blue crab Callinectes sapidus. In particular, Life In Context will lead to a deeper comprehension of the environmental cues that affect the physiology of the blue crab in the lagoons of Venice and Caorle and the Po river delta, where this invasive species is having a negative impact on the local aquaculture and fishery activities.
